Shaun Pulfrey rozpoczął swoją karierę w rodzinnym rybnym biznesie, ale odkrył prawdziwą pasję do pracy w zakładach fryzjerskich.

Shaun Pulfrey began his career in the family fishing business, but discovered true passion lay in hairdressing. After being rejected by Hairdressing College, Pulfrey took up a position as an apprentice at a local salon. His talent was later recognised by the Vidal Sassoon Academy who hired Pulfrey as a colourist, where he completed the course in just four months. 

Podczas jego 30 lat pracy jako kolorysta, Pulfrey opracowała unikalny sposób rozczesywania włosów przy użyciu szczotki i grzebienia. Po sukcesie swojej pierwszej wydanej książki, Pulfrey użył nowo odkrytej pewności siebie i ze swoich oszczędności rozwijał projekt Tangle Teezer. Po sfinalizowaniu prototypu, szczotka została wysłana do salonów do testowania przez fryzjerów. Produkt okazał się hitem, a klienci byli chętni do zakupu nowego produktu. Wtedy Pulfrey zdał sobie sprawę, że na rynku jest miejsce dla Tangle Teezer.
During his 30 years as a colourist, Pulfrey developed a unique way of detangling hair using a paddle brush and comb. After the success of his first published book, Pulfrey used his new-found confidence and his savings to develop Tangle Teezer. Once finalised, the prototypes were sent to salons for testing by hairdressers. The product proved a hit with customers who were keen to buy his product. It was then that Pulfrey realised there was a gap in the market for the Tangle Teezer.

Aby jego produkt został zauważony, Pulfrey zdecydował się wystąpić w programie BBC "Dragon's Den". With the desire to get his product seen by the public, Pulfrey applied for the hit BBC show ‘Dragon’s Den’. Although the Dragon’s did not invest, Tangle Teezer received nationwide coverage, which caused its website to crash as the orders flooded in.

W 2007 roku Tangle Teezer powstała jako spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością, a Pulfrey zatrudnił zespół wspierający rozszerzanie działalności, który pomógł rozwijać firmę.
Poparcie i zachwyt celebrytów pchnął markę na światową scenę, a Pulfrey zaczął eksportować swój brytyjski produkt na arenę międzynarodową. 
In 2007 Tangle Teezer launched as a limited company, and Pulfrey hired a team to support the expanding business, which helped grow the business organically. Celebrity endorsements pushed the brand onto a global stage and Pulfrey began exporting his British-made product internationally. 

Dziś Pulfrey mocno inwestuje w badania i rozwój zmierzający do poszerzenia oferty produktowej.
Today, Pulfrey heavily invests in research and development in efforts to expand the product offering.
